Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.

Waiting on the Ghost

A ghost vigil or ghost watch is when you are watching a location and waiting for something to happen.  This is a very time consuming part of an investigation.  This is when you want to review the journal that the clients made to see what location needs to be watch and what time to start the vigil.

There are several ways that you can watch a location.  We have employ both of these into our investigations.  We will video the location and seal the room off.  Using video camera constantly recording will help in there are multiple locations that needs to be investigated, but you are short on investigators.  We will also have several team members in a location taking notes, watching the equipment readings and this is also a good time to do some EVP recordings.  I would also set up several IR motion detectors throughout the room, at the door and in the hallway just outside of the door.  It is possible that these units will pick up something that is unseen by the eye.

This part of the investigation can last for hours or during the whole investigation itself.  So the team must stay alert and be prepared for anything.  If you have several vigils running at once, it's a good idea to have one person moving between them to keep in contact.  Walkie-talkies can be useful but the can also set off some brands of EMF detectors and if one group has been very quite and/or focused or doing EVPs it can through off their process, so they should be used sparingly

This brings up the question if the team should be able to move around and talk or should they remained still and quite.  What we do is a little of both.  If the team members needs to talk they should speak in a normal tone and keep the talking to a minimum.

Another thing to keep in mind is the lighting.  We will keep the light low if it is possible.  Leave the light on just enough where they can see the location but it will not distort the night vision cameras.  If you have to be in total darkness only do so with lots of caffeine near by, 'cause after a while you'll fall asleep and you might just miss something.

It is a very good idea to do several vigils at the location.  When you do this make sure it is worth wild to do so.  Then you can see if there is any pattern to the events at that location.
