Haunting

Manifestation of a ghostly presence or apparently unexplainable phenomena.  There are several types of a haunting:

  • Active or Intelligent Haunting
This type of haunting occurs when a ghost is aware of itself and its environment.  It is able to interact with the environment and with the living.
  • Residual Haunting
Certain events that have a great deal of emotion behind them are often imprinted in their walls.  Events that are very traumatic are recorded with a greater intensity than others.  Typically haunted homes replay an event, usually the same one over and over again night after night.  In these haunted homes there is no intelligence behind the actions, it's just a series of events that take place over and over.  But strong emotion is not always necessary, if a particular event is repeated over and over it can record on the physical.  A classic example are "footsteps on the stairs."

Just to make things interesting a haunting can be comprised of Active and Residual Haunting activity.  In addition a haunting can be:

  • Place Centric
The haunting is centered in one specific place such as a home, business or specific room.  It is possible for Place Centric Haunting to cover several homes or buildings but is still a rather small geographic area, at most a city block, though slightly larger is possible.  Haunting activities remain fairly consistent despite who is currently living in the place and can cover hundreds of years.
  • Object Centric
A ghost or entity "attaches" itself to particular object such as a piece of jewelry, furniture, clothing, equipment, ect.  Most of the time is has to do with an antique but if someone greatly loved their wedding band and they choose not to cross into the Light, they may follow it making their presence known to the family member who inherits it.  If it's determined that an object is haunted it's destruction is not always necessary and may have an adverse effect.  It may break the ghost's attachment object and allow it to attach to something or someone else and the Ghost may become greatly upset or distressed at the loss of the object and decide to take it out on someone.  This should not be confused with Psychometry.
  • Person Centric
A specific living person may have a ghost attached to them.  This is not a true possession, that is extremely rare, but it can have debilitating effects.  In this case a ghost is attracted to an individual because the living person either is or reminds them of someone they knew when they were alive or currently participates in an activity they enjoyed or did habitually while living.  For example:  someone who used illicit drugs while alive may choose to attach to another drug user, or a pilot may attach to another pilot to relive the pleasure of flight.

Intuition The ability to “know” something is about to happen.  This term is more acceptable to the general population then Psychic, and most commonly heard as in a “Woman’s Intuition” or “Mother’s Intuition.”  But it can also be the “gut feeling” referred to by the average person when discussing another person or place.

Some mausolem's can be elegant but simple, while other can be extensive such as the Taj Mahal in IndiaSee alsoCrypt, Tomb.

Mummy / Mummification New [2]

Originally associated with ancient Egyptian preservation, it has come to mean any dessicated remains the body (human or animal) ... well some mummy's have been found in marshes so... It is now means...

The remains of any body intentionally or accidently (by nature or supernatural) means where the body does not decompose but still retains a significant portion of skin, muscle, organs and skelton over an extensive period of time. There are three primary means:

  1. Dessication (drying)
    • Arid - the body is dried through application of salts and minerals or as a side effect of burial in arrid locations
    • Extreme Cold - Consider the freezer burn of your fruits, veggies and meats -- the cold pulls the moisture slowly from the body while preventing decomposition
  2. Bog Bodies - are the tanned remains of skin and organs of bodies (the skelton does not survive the process) found in bogs where effect of cold water, the water's acidity and lack of oxygen prevented decomposition, it is not know whether it was known the bogs would preserve the bodies let alone why they were tossed in the bogs--victims of murder for crime or spiritual ritual
  3. Incorruptables - the remains of reverred spiritual individuals such as Buhhdist monks or Christian Saints who were never buried but placed on exhibition but normal decomposition did not occur, it is believed they were so perfect upon their death that their physical bodies became as incorruptable as their souls
