St. Paul, MN: Gamble House Photographs
Located on Summit Ave. this house was built for lumber baron, James Gamble by George Wirth. According to the book St. Paul's Historic Summit Avenue F. Scott Fitzgerald's "This Side of Paradise" is about the house, in which resided a Zelda Sayre, a woman he was dating at the time and would later marry.[1] [2] At the time MNPIG was called into investigate, the first floor had been split into three units, the bedrooms on the second floor were rented individually with a common space and the third (top, originally servants quarters) floor and was used as two seperate apartments. One of the tenents called because her furniture would rearrange itself, kitchen cupboard doors would unlatch and open along with the sound of footsteps, and the sound of children. We were called to do an investigation summer 2000.
